3-D Hypocenter Distribution using VRML Technology

█ Outline
    By using VRML technology, you can visualize the 3-D hypocentral distribution on your Internet browser; you can see earthquakes that have occurred beneath the Japan Islands at any angle and scale you like. You can easily recognize the configuration of the two subducting plates under the Japanese Islands. Recent data can be found in this page.
█ Required Application Software
    You should install a plug-in for VRML data on your web browser to view materials at this page. For example, the following plug-ins have been tested and certified to work with our data.

    - Cortona3D Viewer
    - Other VRML plug-ins
